Villa Visconti Borromeo Litta, four centuries of history, a journey through time between art delights and water features – Mantua
The Municipality of Mantua and the Civic Museums with pleasure collaborated in the creation of the documentary film "Villa Visconti Borromeo Litta, four centuries of history, a journey through time between art delights and water games". The suggestive and interesting documentary highlights, among other things, the artistic relationships, historically documented by a dense correspondence, between Pirro I Visconti Borromeo and the Duke of Mantua Vincenzo the first Gonzaga. The two rulers shared common interests for a long time: from alchemical curiosities to magic applied to science, from graphic and pictorial experimentalism to the culture of the garden and the naturalistic laboratory. For Vincenzo Gonzaga, Pirro I was a reliable artistic adviser, who knew how to move skillfully on the refined Milanese market; both exchanged rare plants to decorate gardens and artists for the Mantuan ducal rooms and the villa of Lainate. The exciting events of the two families, the artistic patronage and the collectible taste are intertwined in a fluid and suggestive narrative that this anthology of works and documents cleverly composed and orchestrated by Francesco Vitali with the collaboration of Claudia Botta offers.
